We’re phasing out older versions of Origin (9.x and older) to bring the new Origin experience to all of our players.
From September 14, 2016 you’ll need to use the latest version of Origin to play online.
If you haven’t updated by then, you’ll go into offline mode and will need to restart Origin to update it.
If you don’t currently have Origin, you can download the latest version.
We’ve redesigned your Origin experience with a sleek new user interface (UI), new product and content recommendations, and more.
Check it out for yourself
- If you already have Origin installed, launch it.
- Origin automatically checks for updates on start-up.
- If you’re already logged in, exit Origin completely and restart it to update.
- If you don’t have Origin installed on your computer:
The latest version of Origin requires Windows 7 or newer and OSX 10.7 or newer.
Origin In-Game, voice chat, and the ability to download and play your games are only available in the Origin client.
We’ve moved a few things around. Follow these steps to find what you’re looking for:
Redeem your code
- Click Game Library.
- Click + Add Game near the top of your screen.
- Click Redeem Product Code.
- Enter your code.
You’ll find your games in the Game Library.
Find your friends
In the client:
If you're in the Origin client, find your friends list on the right side of your screen.
On the web:
- Click your username and icon in the bottom-left of your screen.
- Click View My Profile.
- Click the Friends tab.
Change your client settings
You can only change your Origin client settings through the Origin client:
- Click your username and icon in the bottom-left of your screen.
- Click Application Settings.
Change your language
If you’re logged in to the Origin client:
- Go to Application Settings.
- Click on the Language pull-down menu.
- Choose your language from the list.
- Click Restart Now in the pop-up box to apply your change.
For Origin on the web:
You can change your language before you log in by clicking Language Preferences below the Register button.
Update your account
Your My Account page is the same, but getting there is a little different:
- Click your username and icon in the bottom-left of your screen.
- Click EA Account and Billing.

I want to check if the username is taken before the form is submitted.
As far as I can understand I have to use AJAX to get data from my database in javascript. How do I send the username to the PHP file?
